Science Week
Last week was British Science Week and students celebrated with gusto! We kicked off with a visit from Sublime Science. Joel hosted workshops with each year group - thunder drums, energy sticks, flash paper and leaf blowers were all used to great effect to demonstrate key principals of chemistry and physics. Students jumped at the chance to volunteer in some of the demos - the science department are already planning to incorporate many of the demonstrations into our curriculum so everyone has a chance to try them!
students also completed a range of science based activities during Tutor Time, where they did everything from create posters on the 'Change and Adapt' theme to investigating aerodynamics by simulating nature and making seed helicopters. In other lessons students evaluated their own strengths and interests and learnt about successful scientists in a 'smashing stereotypes' exercise.
